Silica needle felt is known to have a higher temperature resistance compared to fiberglass needle felt due to the differences in their material properties.
Material Composition: Silica needle felt is made from amorphous silica fibers, which have a high melting point and excellent thermal stability. On the other hand, fiberglass needle felt is composed of glass fibers, which have a lower melting point compared to silica.
Melting Point: Silica has a significantly higher melting point than fiberglass. The melting point of silica is around 1,600 degrees Celsius (2,912 degrees Fahrenheit), while the melting point of glass is typically between 500 to 700 degrees Celsius (932 to 1,292 degrees Fahrenheit). As a result, silica needle felt can withstand much higher temperatures before reaching its melting point.
Thermal Conductivity: Silica has lower thermal conductivity compared to glass. This means that it is better at resisting the transfer of heat. Silica needle felt can retain its structure and thermal insulation properties even at high temperatures, making it suitable for applications that involve thermal insulation, such as in high-temperature filtration systems.
Chemical Resistance: Silica is also more resistant to chemical degradation than glass. It is resistant to acids, alkalies, and most organic solvents, which can often cause degradation in fiberglass materials. This chemical resistance further enhances the thermal stability of silica needle felt.

Due to these factors, silica needle felt is preferred over fiberglass needle felt in applications that require higher temperature resistance, such as in high-temperature filtration, industrial furnaces, and other thermal insulation applications.
